The foundation stone of the Association was laid down in 1947 and it was named MOTOR TRADERS ASSOCIATION with only a few members. In 1948 it was renamed as KARACHI MOTOR PARTS DEALERS ASSOCIATION.

In 1954, the Association extended the sphere of its activities to the whole of Pakistan and adopted the new name PAKISTAN MOTOR TRADERS ASSOCIATION.
